Fresh Spanish Black Winter Truffle refers to the prized Tuber melanosporum, often called the Périgord truffle, harvested during the cooler months in truffle-growing regions of Spain such as Aragón and Catalonia.

Rough, knobbly exterior with a dark brown to black rind with a firm flesh (gleba) marbled with fine white veins the sizes are typically walnut- to golf-ball-sized, though larger specimens can occur.
